Sun
Hii, welcome to my post . Today we are going to know about sun. So let's get started.
Definition:
• The Sun is a star at the center of the Solar System,
about which planets of the solar system revolve.
• It is a nearly perfect ball of hot plasma.
• The Sun's radius is about 695,000 kilometers .
• Sun is 109 times bigger than the Earth.
• Its mass is about 330000 times that of Earth.
• The Sun comprises about 99.86% of the total mass.
Facts:
• The sun is a yellow dwarf star in the center of the
solar system.
• It is the largest, brightest and most massive object in
the system.
• The sun formed around 4.5 billion years ago.
• The heat and light from this nuclear reaction enabled
life on Earth to evolve and prosper.
Quick facts :
(i) Equatorial diameter ----- 1.39 M KM.
(ii) Mass ---- 1.99 x 10 ³⁰ KG .
(iii) Gal. Centre distance ---- 26038 light year .
(iv) Roatational period ---- 25 days.
(v) Galatic orbit period ---- 225 M years.
(vi) Surface gravity ---- 274 m/s²
(vii) Surface temperature ---- 5778 k [ 5505⁰ c ]
Composition:
• Rougly One third of the Sun's mass consists of hydrogen 73% and the rest is mostly helium.
• It also conatins smaller quantities of heavier elements, including oxygen, carbon, neon, and iron.
• The mass of the sun is in the photosphere.
Structure :
Mainly there are four parts of the Sun- Photosphere, Connective zone , Radiative zone , Core as described below :
(i) Photosphere :
• It is a nearly perfect ball of hot plasma.
• The photosphere is the outermost thin layer of the Sun.
• Below the photosphere the Sun becomes opaque.
• However the photosphere itself is slightly less opaque than the air on the Earth.
(ii) Connective zone :
• Thermal columns carry hot material to the Surface of the Sun.
• Once the marerial cools off, it plunges back towards
the hot radiative zone.
(iii) Radiative zone :
• The radiative zone carries the intense heat of core
outward as Thermal radiation, with the material
rapidly cooling the density of solar material
decreasing a hundredfold from the top of the core to
the top fo the radiative zone.
(iv) Core :
• 99% of all the power generated by the Sun comes
from within 24% of the Sun's radius.
Thank you.
